That line is the spine of Burning Mind, the new single from Dark Archer, releasing August 7 on all streaming platforms.

The song follows a woman losing her grip on what's actually hers: her memory, her name, her sense of when the manipulation started. There is no dramatic collapse. Instead, the song moves through sedation, denial, and a slow erasure of self, building to the line that gives the song its title: "When they erase your emotion / Your burning mind."

"I wasn't interested in writing a song about someone being lied to," says Dark Archer. "I wanted to write about something far more pervasive: the possibility that your thoughts may not be entirely your own. The most dangerous manipulation feels like your own idea."

Burning Mind continues Dark Archer's ongoing exploration of identity and autonomy, and the forces that reshape a person. Where Mascara on a Corpse examined a culture built on performed suffering, Burning Mind turns inward, asking what prolonged pressure leaves behind once a person no longer trusts their own mind.
